Tai Chi for Good Health
Waterfront Park (behind the Firehouse theater)
Monday July 26 to Saturday July 31
8:00am each morning
FREE!
Paul Mahoney and members of Great Bay Tai Chi & Yoga Center of Amesbury and Newburyport will once again offer a one-hour Free Tai Chi for Good Health class as a service to the Newburyport community. The class will be held at 8:00 each morning from Monday July 26 to Saturday July 31 at the Waterfront Park (behind the Firehouse theater). Tai Chi is an internal martial art form that has been practiced for hundreds of years in China and is now practiced in every corner of the globe. The health benefits gained from practicing Tai Chi’s gentle movements include lower blood pressure and greater bone density, among others. There are many studies illustrating these health benefits which are now available online. This is the reason that many doctors now regularly send patients to Tai Chi classes: to reduce stress, improve balance, as well as to help treat many respiratory conditions. The Yang style short form will be introduced at a beginner’s pace to give participants a real opportunity to learn many of the postures of this amazing healing practice. The Qigong ("chee gong") or healing energy breath work, will also be practiced each morning. Come join us!
