YANKEE HOMECOMING’S FAMILY DAY AT MAUDSLAY STATE PARK
SATURDAY, AUGUST 1st, 2009 10:00AM - 4:00PM
Rain or shine, come one come all! A full day of family entertainment.
Free Parking, all day long
Please donate what you can at the "Toll Booth" at the entrance to the park. Proceeds will be used to defray costs from Family Day as well as other Yankee Homecoming events.

Kayak Demonstrations and 10 Minute Intro Paddles Kayak Demonstraitions

Informational booth. Kayak demonstrations at the riverfront by the Boat house. Demonstrations include: kayak safety, Eskimo rolling, advanced paddling techniques, kayak fishing, etc. 10 minute introduction paddles will be given on the 1/2 hour. Sign-up for the paddles is required at the booth. Professional guides will be on-hand to answer all your questions.

ChIPS (Child Identification Program)

MYCHIP (Masonic Youth Child Identification Program) has identified more than 250,000 children since its inception and it continues to assist families today. The program provides tools to help law enforcement authorities find a missing child during the most critical hours, and a permanent identification record in the event of a tragedy. The Masons of Massachusetts donate MYCHIP resources to make this service available to the public. All the identifying materials are given to the child's family.

This is the largest, most comprehensive child identification program in our area. Your child will be fingerprinted, have dental impressions make, and video taped, all to take with you. Do not miss this opportunity.

Bicycle Field Races and Safety Inspection Bycycle Rodeo

Races start at 11:00AM, each age group to follow.
Age groups; 5-6 years, 7-8 years, 9-10 years, 11-12 years.
All participants will receive a ribbon. First place in each category receives a trophy, 2nd and 3rd will receive a medal.
Parental consent/release and helmets are mandatory for all races.

Kids bring your bicycle to the Park for some biking fun and education. Free bicycle inspection and helmet sizing.

1 1/2 hour bike ride on Maudslay trails. Ride is approximately 3-5 miles.

This clinic is suitable for ages 9 and up. The Boy’s Team went far into the tournament last season. The Girl’s Team won the State Tournament, for the second season in a row. They also won the ALS Soccer Cup. The ALS Soccer Cup is played every year between Newburyport & Pentucket. This event raises money for Lou Gehrig’s disease and will take place Oct. 8th at Newburyport High School.

Students from Tokyo Joe’s Studios of Self Defense in Salisbury will be demonstrating a variety of martial arts skills, from basic punches, kicks and blocks to elaborate forms using traditional weapons. A board-breaking demonstration will include instruction and an opportunity for all audience members to break a board themselves (yes - you can do it)!

The Bracken School of Irish Dance, under the direction of Thomas P. Bracken ADCRG, opened its door in the Newburyport area in 2008. Thomas, world renowned choreographer has a successful studio in Phoenix AZ and is now sharing his time between two locations. Irish step dancing is rich with history and tradition. The dance is taught to all levels including boys and adults. Dancers can move on to competitive levels or simply dance for the joy of it!
