I would like to welcome you to Yankee Homecoming 2011- "It Takes a Village", the 54th year of this exciting tradition in the city of Newburyport.

After months of planning and hard work, it is hard to believe it is already July! The excitement is building as we get closer to Opening Day with Old Fashioned Sunday.

Join us for our final big fund raiser and have some "Good, Clean Foam" at the Brewfest, Saturday July 30th. This promises to be another sold out event so make sure to purchase your tickets online now. We are already ahead of last years sales at this time. Enjoy the sounds of the Pete Kilpatrick Band while sampling from more than 30 of the finest craft beers under the tent, behind the Custom House.

I encourage you to check out the Downtown Entertainment page. We have three stages packed with interesting and new things going on each day.

The Program Book is hot off the press! This year we have a coloring contest included for 4 different age groups. Four contestants will each win a $25.00 gift certificate to Jabberwocky and a large Domino’s Pizza with soda. The coloring page and rules are included in the Program Book. The contest starts with the release of the book and continues to August 6th. Winners will be selected by a Yankee Homecoming volunteer so get those crayons ready!!!

The first Yankee Homecoming was held in 1958 in Newburyport and twenty-nine other communities as a way to revitalize pride and interest in downtown communities back east. Over 50 years later, Newburyport's Yankee Homecoming is the only remaining annual celebration.
