Olde Fashioned Sunday

At Bartlet Mall on Sunday, July 26th

This year's Olde Fashioned Sunday promises to be a lively day packed with music, entertaining events, period costumes, dunk tank, children’s entertainers, and much more! A variety of food vendors will be on the Bartlet Mall to satisfy everyone's tastes. Please stop by the Yankee Homecoming Food Booth and give us your support by enjoying a hot dog.

Native American Pow-Wow

9:00AM Blessing of the Sacred Circle

The fire is started.

Grand Entry
  Everyone is asked to stand. Men are asked to remove their hats, unless there is an eagle feather in it.
  All Native Americans enter the Sacred Circle with the accompaniment of the Host Drum, Special Dignitaries and Honored Persons, following the Head Veteran and Honor Guard.
  There will then be a flag song, which is equivalent in Respect and Honor to the National Anthem.
  The Victory Dance follows, which all Veterans, including any Veteran who is not a Native American, is invited to join in.
  Intertribal Dancing will then be performed. The general public is welcomed and encouraged to join in. If you watch the Native footwork, it is really easy to catch on.
11:00AM - 11:30AM Grandmother Nancy will perform storytelling. This is especially enjoyed by the children
  There will be more Intertribal Dancing for all.
12 Noon Richard Owl Beaver will go onstage to bless Kathleen Bailey, the Homecoming Event Committee, and all people present.
1:00PM Fancy Shawl Dance exhibition will be performed by 11-year-old Angelina Clear Waters. This will be particularly enjoyed by children as well as adults.
  Other exhibition dancing styles will be performed.
2:00PM - 2:30PM Grandmother Nancy will again perform storytelling.
2:30PM More dancing, drumming, flute playing, and other exhibitions that will continue until the closing dancing and song at 5:00PM
5:00PM The Closing Dance and Song will take place, and the flags will be retired.
